restorative yoga

Hannah Calloway

I took my first yoga class with Alice Rocky in 1994. A lifelong dancer, I immediately recognized the physical potential of yoga for strength, opening, and alignment. As my study continued over the next several years, I began to uncover a level of learning that went far beyond my brain and even my body; yoga was beginning to show me a quiet inside for which ~ unbeknownst to me ~I had been longing.

I received my teaching certificate at the White Lotus Foundation in 2003. In 2004, I attended a conference workshop on restorative yoga with Judith, and was hooked.  Later that year,  I was certified by Judith to teach restorative yoga, and attended the first Advanced Relax and Renew® training in 2005. I continue to study with and assist Judith whenever I can.

I now specialize in working with beginners, older students, and those with physical limitations. My teaching is the humbling, grounding, guiding practice in my life, and I count each of my students in my lineage of teachers. Other teachers who have inspired and taught me include Mark Whitwell and Ted Surman, both teachers in the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya and his son, T.K.V. Desikachar.

When not studying or teaching, I enjoy salsa dancing and the challenges and joys of raising my stepson, Timothy.
